After the disappointing result of Game Changer, Ram Charan returns with Peddi, a sports drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana. Right from its announcement, the film generated tremendous buzz among fans and movie lovers alike. The first-look posters, teaser, and songs created high expectations, while Ram Charan’s rugged transformation became a major talking point.
After months of anticipation, the big question is whether Peddi lives up to the hype and delivers the strong comeback that Ram Charan fans have been waiting for.
Story
Peddi (Ram Charan) is a tribal youngster from a small village near Vizianagaram that struggles to gain recognition. While the village elder, Appalasuri (Jagapathi Babu), dreams of bringing a railway station to the village, Peddi spends most of his time playing cricket for money.
However, a clash involving Acchi Amma (Janhvi Kapoor) hurts Peddi’s self-respect and becomes a turning point in his life. Determined to achieve something meaningful for his village, he joins Gouri Naidu (Shiva Rajkumar) to learn wrestling and sets out on a journey to bring recognition and pride to his people.
But when an unexpected incident turns his life upside down, Peddi is forced to face challenges far greater than he ever imagined. What happens next, and how he fights for his village and its future, forms the rest of the story.
Performance
Ram Charan is the heart and soul of Peddi. He carries the film effortlessly on his shoulders and delivers one of the finest performances of his career. From his body language and screen presence to the emotionally charged scenes, his dedication to the role is visible in every frame. Whether it’s the high-energy moments, the sports sequences, or the emotional scenes leading up to the climax, Ram Charan shines throughout the film.
Janhvi Kapoor gets a decent role and delivers a adequate performance. Jagapathi Babu is impressive as always, adding depth and emotional weight to the story. Shiva Rajkumar makes a strong impact in his role and leaves a lasting impression despite his limited screen time. The supporting cast also performs well and blends naturally into the film’s rural setting.
Technical Aspects
Technically, Peddi is a strong well-made film. Director Buchi Babu does a good job of balancing the emotional drama with the sports backdrop. Rathnavelu’s cinematography is one of the film’s major strengths, beautifully capturing the rustic landscapes and giving the film a visually rich feel. The production values are top-notch and reflect the scale and ambition of the project.
However, the biggest highlight is A.R. Rahman’s music. His songs and background score elevate several key moments, enhancing both the emotional depth and the overall impact of the film.

Analysis
Peddi starts on an interesting note, with Ram Charan’s introduction scene and the energetic “Rai Rai” song setting the tone perfectly. These opening sequences immediately draw the audience into the world of the Peddi.
However, the film loses some of its grip once Janhvi Kapoor’s track begins. Several scenes in this portion feel forced and unnecessary, making it the weakest segment of the movie. Thankfully, the film regains momentum once this episode is over.
The pre-interval and interval sequences are executed well and create strong excitement for the second half.
The second half begins with several terrific scenes, followed by the “Massa Massa” song, which stands out as one of the film’s biggest highlights. From there, the narrative moves forward smoothly without becoming boredom. The emotional portions are handled effectively, and the story gradually builds toward a powerful climax.
The climax is undoubtedly one of the film’s strongest aspects. Ram Charan’s performance during these crucial moments elevates the film to next level. The final act leaves a lasting impression and ensures that the audience remains invested until the very end.
The film’s biggest drawback remains the Janhvi Kapoor episode. It disrupts the flow of the narrative and tests the audience’s patience at times. Some scenes feel out of place and fail to match the overall tone and quality of the rest of the film.
Apart from this flaw, Peddi works well as an emotional sports drama, supported by strong performances, engaging storytelling, and a highly effective second half carries a strong motivational message about self-belief and fighting for a greater cause.
Verdict
Peddi is a solid emotional sports drama powered by a terrific performance from Ram Charan. Despite a weak and cringe-filled romantic track, the film delivers strong emotional moments, an engaging second half, and a powerful climax that delivers an inspiring message to the audience.
