Andhra Pradesh Leaders Living in Hyderabad and Bengaluru: What Message Are They Giving to AP People?

Andhra Pradesh Leaders Living Outside AP

After the bifurcation in 2014, Andhra Pradesh lost Hyderabad and had to rebuild almost everything from scratch. A new capital, new infrastructure, new investments, and new jobs — every government promised that Andhra Pradesh would rise strongly once again.

For the last ten years, people have continuously heard speeches about Amaravati, industries, IT companies, and development. Every leader says that Andhra Pradesh has a bright future.

But then a simple question comes to mind: If Andhra Pradesh is truly the future, why are many of its top leaders still living comfortably outside the state?

Today, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Minister Nara Lokesh are often associated with Hyderabad. On the other hand, opposition leader Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is frequently reported to be staying in Bengaluru.

A Question Beyond Politics

Do we see leaders from other states living primarily in different states like this?

Doesn’t it feel unusual that someone is an MLA or a minister representing one state while spending much of their time living in another state ?

This sends a concerning message to many people because Andhra Pradesh is still recovering and rebuilding after bifurcation. Lakhs of Andhra youth are already leaving the state and moving to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai in search of better employment opportunities. Many districts are still waiting for major industries and investments, while Amaravati itself continues to develop slowly.

At a time like this, shouldn’t leaders spend more time within Andhra Pradesh and help build confidence among the people?

How can leaders ask companies to invest thousands of crores in Andhra Pradesh when much of their own political and personal lives appear to be centered outside the state?

If leaders themselves seem more comfortable in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, why would major companies fully trust Andhra Pradesh as a long-term destination for investment?

This criticism is not directed only at the ruling alliance. Jagan Mohan Reddy also faced similar criticism after losing power, as many people expected him to stay in Andhra Pradesh and rebuild his party from within the state itself.

That is why this issue is now going beyond party politics. Whether it is Telugu Desam Party, Jana Sena Party, or YSR Congress Party, many people in Andhra Pradesh want leaders who are emotionally connected to the state first.

Of course, leaders may have their own personal reasons. Hyderabad was emotionally connected to Andhra people for many years before bifurcation. Family, business, and security considerations may also play a role. However, politics is not only about personal comfort.

Politics is also about leadership and confidence. People notice where their leaders live. People notice where leaders spend most of their time. And people also notice whether Andhra Pradesh truly feels like home for its own leaders.

That emotional connection matters a lot because, after losing Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh is still trying to build its own strong identity. In such a situation, many people expect leaders to proudly stay within the state and demonstrate confidence in Andhra Pradesh’s future.

Youth Migration

Today, ordinary Andhra youth are leaving the state because they often have no choice. They move to Hyderabad or Bengaluru in search of jobs and better opportunities. But when leaders themselves continue to stay outside the state, it can create a negative impression and make the situation appear even more disappointing. For many citizens, that perception carries an emotional impact.

Andhra Pradesh does not just need speeches, investment summits, and promises anymore. It also needs leaders who genuinely believe in the state and proudly show that Andhra Pradesh is their permanent political and emotional home.

Because rebuilding a state is not only about constructing buildings and roads — it is also about building confidence. And right now, many Andhra citizens genuinely feel that this confidence is still missing from their leadership.

“A state is built not just by investments, but by the confidence its leaders show in calling it home.”
