The first part, Pushpa: The Rise, was a massive success, making Allu Arjun a nationwide sensation. Story:
The story starts in Japan, where Pushpa tries to retrieves his smuggled goods from a container. The scene then shifts to the past, where Shikawat (Fahadh Faasil), a police officer disguised as a coolie, catches Pushpa’s smuggling gang. This begins a fierce clash between Pushpa and Shikawat.
Pushpa manages to outsmart Shikawat and frees his gang. Meanwhile, his wife Srivalli (Rashmika Mandanna) wishes to see him take a photo with the Chief Minister. Pushpa goes to the CM’s office with MP Sidappa (Rao Ramesh) to make it happen. However, the CM refuses and looks down on Pushpa as just a smuggler. This hurts Pushpa’s ego as he fails to fulfill Srivalli’s wish.
To prove himself, Pushpa decides to make MP Sidappa the next CM. But for this, he needs a huge amount of money. Pushpa takes on a risky deal to smuggle 2 thousand tons of red sandalwood worth ₹5000 crore. He pushes his syndicate to meet the target, but Shikawat is determined to stop him. Will Pushpa overcome the challenges and complete his mission? Can he outsmart Shikawat once again? What happens in Pushpa’s life during these events? Watch it in theatres to find out!
Performance:
Allu Arjun’s performance as Pushpa is outstanding. He brings strong emotion and power to the character, showing both his toughness and vulnerability. His body language, dialogue delivery, and expressions make the character more intense, especially in scenes like the Gangamma Jathara and his face-off with Shikawat. Allu Arjun perfectly portrays a man who is determined but also struggles with personal issues.
Fahadh Faasil as Shikawat adds a strong presence to the film. What sets him apart is his ability to entertain the audience in a lighter, more comedic way as well. Fahadh balances the seriousness of his role with subtle humor, making his character even more engaging and multi dimensional.
Rashmika Mandanna, as Pushpa’s wife Srivalli, brings warmth and charm to the film. Though she doesn’t have much screen time, she leaves a lasting impact, especially in her emotional scenes with Pushpa. The rest of the cast also did a great job in their roles.
Technical aspects:
Director Sukumar has done a tremendous job with the film. His writing showcases his mastery in storytelling, especially in elevating Pushpa’s characterization to the next level. He skillfully blends action, drama, and emotion, keeping the audience engaged throughout.
Devi Sri Prasad’s music and background score are impactful. The BGM adds to the intensity of the film and is a significant improvement over the first part, complementing the narrative perfectly. Cinematographer Kuba did an extraordinary job with stunning visuals that enhanced the overall experience of the film.
Analysis:
The movie starts off on a dull note, with the intro failing to make much of an impact. It takes a while for the story to get going, but once Fahadh Faasil’s character is introduced, the pace picks up, and the movie becomes more engaging. Pushpa’s character is written with great detail, and this is highlighted in some powerful scenes like the police station confrontation, the CM meeting, and the deal scene. These moments not only elevate the character but also showcase the depth and complexity of the narrative.
The pre-interval scene deserves a special mention as it is executed brilliantly. It sets the perfect stage for the interval sequence, which is simply mind blowing. Director Sukumar’s skill is evident here, as he handles the progression from the pre-interval to the interval with masterful precision, keeping the audience completely hooked.
Post-interval, the story slows down a little, and some scenes feel a bit flat. However, they are still engaging enough to keep the audience interested without causing any boredom. The Gangamma Jathara scene comes as a major turning point and is undoubtedly one of the film’s biggest highlights. Allu Arjun’s performance in this scene is extraordinary, as he takes his acting to a whole new level, leaving the audience in awe. Rashmika Mandanna also delivers a standout performance, adding to the emotional intensity of the scene. The high point of this sequence is how it perfectly captures the strength and essence of Pushpa’s character, making it unforgettable.
The climax, though a bit lengthy and occasionally lagging, still manages to keep the audience hooked. Sukumar ensures that the final sequences are packed with enough drama and tension to leave a strong impact. Overall, the film effectively balances its runtime, offering memorable performances and powerful moments that stay with the audience.
