After facing a series of flops, Siddharth got a hit last year with Chinna. But this year, his movie Indian 3 with Kamal Haasan turned out to be a disaster. Now, Siddharth is back with a romantic film “Miss You”. Will this movie impress the audience? Let’s find out.
Story:
The movie begins with Vasu (Siddharth), an aspiring filmmaker, who enjoys a special coffee at a café in Coorg. However, his life takes a drastic turn when he meets with a deadly accident, causing him to forget the last two years of his life.
As Vasu starts to recover, he meets Bobby (Karunakaran) at a railway station and becomes friends with him. Bobby, who owns a cafe in Bengaluru, takes Vasu along with him to Bengaluru, where he meets Subbalakshmi (Ashika Ranganath). Vasu instantly falls in love with her and eventually proposes to her. But Subbalakshmi rejects him, saying she doesn’t believe in love or marriage.
Heartbroken, Vasu returns to Chennai and tells his mother about Subbalakshmi, even showing her a picture. His mother’s reaction surprises him she behaves strangely, calls Vasu’s friends, and insists that he forget about Subbalakshmi. When Vasu demands to know why, he discovers a shocking truth, he already had a past with Subbalakshmi.
What happened between Vasu and Subbalakshmi in the past? Why did they separate? And why is Subbalakshmi acting as if nothing happened? To know the answers, you’ll have to watch the movie in theatres!
Performance:
Siddharth, as Vasu, delivers a decent performance. He convincingly portrays a person who has lost his memory, and his romantic side also comes across well. Ashika Ranganath also does a great job. Her chemistry with Siddharth feels natural, and she excels in expressing the emotions of her character.
Karunakaran adds light moments to the film with his portrayal of Bobby, bringing humor and warmth to the story. The rest of the supporting cast also does a decent job in their respective roles. Though their screen time is limited.
Analysis:
Director N. Rajashekhar attempts to blend a thriller twist with a romantic drama in Miss You, but unfortunately, he falls short. While the film tries to inject some excitement into the plot, we’ve seen this kind of story before, and it doesn’t bring anything new to the table. A recent example, Nani’s Hi Nanna, follows a similar plot and manages to keep the audience engaged, but Miss You struggles in this area.
The movie has Its moments, but overall, it feels slow and predictable. Even the supposed twist fails to generate any real suspense, leaving the audience unimpressed. Despite the runtime being just 2 hours and 5 minutes, the film drags in parts, making it harder to stay fully invested. The songs and choreography seem to add little value, and instead, they test the patience of the viewers. Additionally, the background music (BGM) doesn’t match the film’s tone and feels underwhelming, further pulling down the overall experience.
Postives:
Some parts are Good
The recall scene
Negatives:
Predictable
Weak story
Poor production values
Verdict:
Overall, the film is a disappointment. It works only in parts, and with poor songs and background music, it fails to create an impact as a romantic movie. If you’re a hardcore romantic drama fan, you might find some moments worth watching, but otherwise, it’s best to skip this one.
