Harikatha: Sambhavami Yuge Yuge is a new thriller on Hotstar starring Rajendra Prasad and Srikanth (Sriram). Let’s see what this thriller series has to offer!

Story:

The story begins in 1982 at the Araku Valley court, where a judge questions a minor boy, Das, about a murder he committed. However, Das remains silent, leading the judge to sentence him to juvenile custody until he turns 18. But as Das is being transported in a police van, he shockingly kills a constable, setting the tone for the dark events ahead.

The narrative then shifts to Visakhapatnam in 1990, where Srikanth (Virat), a sincere Sub-Inspector, is seen working at a police station. On his wife’s birthday, she visits him with a special meal, but tragedy strikes when a group of comrades attacks the station to free one of their men. In the chaos, Virat’s wife is killed, and he suffers a head injury, leaving him with abnormal hearing abilities he becomes overly sensitive to loud noises, which disturbs his daily life.

A month later, Virat along with his daughter travels to Araku Valley to meet his friend. Meanwhile, the peaceful village is shaken by a series of brutal and mysterious murders. The villagers believe these murders are acts of God. In this village, Lisa (Pujitha Ponnada), a stranger aspiring to become a journalist, arrives under the guise of shooting a documentary on a theatrical troupe. She aims to uncover the truth behind the crimes.

The Rangachary Theatrical Troupe is known for performing plays that show gods and their avatars. What’s strange is that every time they perform a play about a particular god, people in the village die in a way that seems to copy that god’s anger or power. The questions arise: What happened to Das? Who is behind these murders, God or someone using His name? How does Virat get involved in solving this chilling mystery? To find out the answers, you’ll have to watch the series!

Performance:

Srikanth, as Virat, does a good job of showing his emotional struggle. He convincingly portrays a man dealing with the pain of losing his wife and his difficulty with sensitive hearing, while also trying to solve a chilling mystery. His performance is both touching and engaging.

Rajendra Prasad, as Rangachary, did a great job as a drama artist. The performances of the Rangachary Theatrical Troupe, especially during the reenactments of God’s avatars, are impressive and stand out.

Pujitha Ponnada, playing Lisa, adds an interesting layer to the story with her portrayal of a journalist trying to uncover the truth. She effectively balances her character’s ambition with a growing sense of curiosity about the village’s dark secrets. The remaining artists did a decent job in their respective roles.

Analysis:

The series is set in the 1990s in Araku Valley, and the tone and visuals are good, adding to the atmosphere of the show. However, the main issue with the series is its predictability. Throughout the episodes, everything feels too obvious, which fails to create the suspense and thrill expected from a thriller. Even though the series is only 6 episodes long, it feels slow and boring at times.

The director fails to leave a lasting impact, as the narrative doesn’t evoke the intensity or intrigue that it promises. The concept of the avatars of God was an interesting thought, but unfortunately, it fails miserably in connecting the dots, making the entire premise feel disconnected and less engaging. Despite the potential, the series falls flat due to its routine story and predictable plot, failing to live up to the expectations.

Performances

Negatives:

Verdict:

Overall, this series fails to make an impact. Despite its interesting concept and decent performances, the predictable plot, routine story, lack of surprises, and uninspired twists make it a forgettable experience.
