This Dussehra saw the release of four prominent movies: Maa Nanna Superhero, Vettaiyan, Viswam, and Janaka Aithe Ganaka. Unfortunately, not one of them clicked as a solo blockbuster, and most of them disappointed the viewers on screen.
Maa Nanna Superhero tells a touching story about a father and his Son.Critics appreciated Sudheer Babu’s performance. The emotional scenes were given appreciation. However, it lacked exciting action or dramatic twists as how audiences actually expect from a festival movie. So, it couldn’t attract huge crowds into the theatres. Though the heartiness of its plot, it seems like the cinema will get better if watched at home on OTT platforms instead of movie halls.
Vettaiyan with Rajinikanth was highly in demand in view of the actor’s star value. The movie was action-based and also had a better social message. But after the interval, the story was flat and more in teaching lessons, which was not appreciated by the viewers. Fans of Rajinikanth did appear, but it did not cut much ice in the cinemas.
Viswam movie starring Gopichand directed by srinu vaitla after long gap, coming to the movie action alone coupled up with some comic but the story was too predictable. A few comedy scenes were good but rest of the film was dull. Hence it did not impress many and fared very poorly.
Janaka Aithe Ganaka starring Suhas was targeted for the youngster and composed in a courtroom drama. Unfortunately, it did not seem interesting and most of the audience were not impressed with it. It faded away within no time, without much of an impact.
Conclusion In terms of emotional depth, Maa Nanna Superhero comes out on top of the lot; however, none of the three has managed to become big hits on this Dussehra. Neither can the festival boast big-ticket box office runs as the three do not make even a single strong release during this period.
