Allari Naresh’s latest movie Bachchala Malli, is directed by Subbu, known for his earlier work, Solo Bathike So Better. Produced by Rajesh Danda under the banner of Hasya Movies, the film features Amritha Aiyer as the female lead, alongside Rao Ramesh, Balagam Jayaram, Kannada Achyuth Kumar, Hariteja, Praveen, and Viva Harsha in key roles. After switching to serious roles with Naandhi, Allari Naresh continues this streak with Bachchala Malli. The movie generated decent buzz with its teaser and trailer, Here’s an in-depth review.
Story
The story is set in Thuni Mandal of East Godavari district and follows Bachchala Malli (Allari Naresh). Malli, a bright student who topped his district in 10th grade, sees his life take a bad turn after a fight with his father (Balagam Jayaram). This fight makes Malli hate his father and shapes his stubborn and rebellious nature. Due to an incident in college, he drops out and becomes a tractor driver, earning a reputation as a fool in his village because of his behavior.
Malli’s life changes when Kaveri (Amritha Aiyer) comes into his life. Though she is initially scared of him, she starts liking him for his kind heart. However, their love faces problems because of Malli’s personality. Will Malli and Kaveri get married? Will he make peace with his father? What will Malli lose because of his stubbornness? To find out, you have to watch the movie.
Performance
Allari Naresh does a great job as Malli, showing both his flaws and his good side. Balagam Jayaram gives an emotional performance as the father, adding more feelings to the story. Amritha Aiyer shines in important scenes, even though her role is small, and Hariteja impresses in a strong role after a long gap.
Praveen and Viva Harsha bring some fun moments with their comedy. Rao Ramesh and Achyuth Kumar perform well and leave a good impression with their experienced acting.
Technical aspects
Director Subbu successfully delivers the main message of the film but could have made it more creative. The screenplay is good, and the cinematography shows the beauty of village life. Vishal Chandrasekhar’s background music adds to the emotional scenes, and overall production is of good quality.
Analysis
Bachchala Malli is a film inspired by real-life incidents, focusing on themes like anger, regret, and redemption. It begins with a solid setup, establishing Malli’s character and his struggles. The story effectively portrays his journey from being a stubborn and foolish person to gaining self-awareness. However, certain parts of the narrative, such as Malli’s sudden love for Kaveri, feel a bit rushed and lack proper logic, which could have been handled better.
The movie carries a meaningful message about the damage caused by anger and stubbornness, encouraging viewers to think twice before making decisions they might regret. The emotional climax ties up the story well, though it is predictable. Despite its heartfelt moments, the film lacks freshness and high-energy sequences, However, the simple story and lack of exciting moments might not appeal to everyone.
Positives:
Performances
Heartfelt Climax
Negatives:

Slow Paced
Verdict
Bachchala Malli is a raw, honest attempt that highlights the dangers of anger and stubbornness. While it has its moments, the film may not appeal to everyone due to its predictable storyline and lack of engaging highs.
